M.Sc. in Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing Course Deatils
M.Sc. OBST. and Gynae Nursing or Master of Science in OBST. and Gyane Nursing is a postgraduate Nursing programme. While OBST. here stands for Obstetrics, Gynae stands for Gynaecology, thus these two terms have been used in short but that doesn't make the course different from M.Sc. (Obstetrics & Gynaecology Nursing) or M.Sc. (Obstetrical & Gynaecological Nursing) or M.Sc. (OBG Nursing). While these are same, certain institutes may use either of the terminologies. Obstetrics and Gynaecology nursing are two related fields of nursing where the practitioners deal with the reproductive health of women. They help women during pregnancy, labor and childbirth, as well as women with health issues with their reproductive system.
M.Sc. in Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing Eligibility Requiements
- Candidates should have passed a bachelor’s degree from any recognized University with minimum 45% marks in aggregate or any other equivalent qualification.
- Some of the very reputed universities and colleges conduct an entrance examination for admission.
M.Sc. OBST. and Gynae Nursing Course Suitability
- The course is suitable to develop an advance-nursing skill for nursing interventions in various obstetrical and gynaecological conditions.
- It will further enable the students to function as midwifery nurse practitioner/specialist, educator, manager and researcher in the field of obstetrics and gynaecological nursing.
How is M.Sc. OBST. and Gynae Nursing Course Beneficial?
- OB/GYN nurses may also work in oncology wards taking care of women suffering from breast and reproductive organ cancers.
- Obstetrics & Gynaecology nurses may choose to work in hospitals or they could work in birthing clinics. Those who choose to work in the hospital setting may be assigned in Obstetrics and Gynaecology units. They may also work in special areas like the emergency room.
- The course is beneficial for work as counsellors for patients and their families.
- The Obstetrics & Gynaecology nurse may also find herself taking care of women suffering from STDs.
- They may also become part of a woman’s support group. Their responsibilities also include making sure that a woman is comfortable during, before and after childbirth.
