The University of Delhi (DU) has decided to provide the comfort of 30 minutes of extrati me along with the additional choice in the question papers to help students bounce back with ease to the traditional exam pattern.

The university has taken this decision as a one-time measure to allow the students to come to terms with the offline examina tion system. Speaking to Education Times, DS Rawat, dean (exams), DU, says, "Students had raised their concerns to us that pandemic forced them to take online exams which had reduced their writing speed." In addition to this, DU has decided to give an additional choice in the exams to ease the process for them. "The decision to conduct offline exams was made in February when the university opened. The final year master's students who were admitted in 2020, have not written a single exam in offline mode. If students do not write offline exams, their degrees would also lose its value. After college, students would have to write the competitive exams which would be conducted only in the offline mode," adds Rawat.

Swati Pal, principal, Janki Devi Memorial College (JDMC), DU, says, "Al lotting extra 30 minutes to the students probably aims to get them used to the offline exam system."
