Constitution of India is the supreme law of the and which lays down an elaborate legal framework to ensure socio-economic wel- fare of 'WE THE PEOPLE OF INDIA'. The Indian Independence movement was led by the legal stalwarts, who set high standards of service with qualities of selflessness and sacrifice. The legal profession thus acquired an exalted position of eminence. Legal education plays an important role in the establishment of a rule-based egalitarian society. In order to ensure quality legal education in India, the Parliament enacted the Advocates Act, 1961, empowering the Bar Council of India to promote legal education and to lay down standards of legal education in consultation with the universities in India imparting such education and the State Bar Councils. According to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) projections, India shall continue to enjoy the demographic dividends. This strong economic growth shall open plethora of career options in the legal field for the aspirational generation.
Legal professionals play an important role in the administration of justice. At present, the majority of the fresh law graduates prefer to work with the law firms as they provide good working conditions apart from other career advancement opportunities. The law graduates can explore many other career options and one of them can be the litigating ad- vocate as with over 50 million cases pending in India, majority of these cases - close to 42 million-are pending in the district courts. However, working conditions at most of the district courts do not inspire confidence of the fresh law graduates and leave to be desired. The present situation can substantially improve by ensuring an ecosystem wherein the young advocates can be assured of a stipend for the initial years of practice and district advocacy training institutes can also be established on the lines of the Judicial Training Academy for imparting 1 advocacy skills to the budding advocates.
