M.Tech. Remote Sensing or Master of Technology Remote Sensing is a postgraduate Electronics programme. Remote sensing is integral to a wide range of environmental and commercial applications from understanding global climate change, deforestation and the global carbon cycle, fire mapping, oil exploration, ice sheet dynamics, earthquakes, atmospheric monitoring, oceanography, through to resource management, food security and humanitarian applications. includes understanding the instrumentation, software, radioactive transfer, hydroacoustics and principles of systems designed to acquire, process and interpret information about Earth for application to vital contemporary problems in agriculture, coastal zone management, ecology, engineering, environmental science and resource management, forestry, land use, meteorology, natural hazards, oceanography, urban planning and other issues. The technologies involved in this program are primarily dependent on the physical, mathematical, and statistical sciences. However, their applications also depend on the various biological, geographic, environmental, and social sciences. Remote Sensing program has been developed with a careful balance between fundamental principles, data analysis, and application areas but with sufficient electives and project materials to cater to students with widely varying disciplinary backgrounds and to allow the greatest opportunity for multi-disciplinary knowledge exchange.
