Central Library - The BIT Central Library collection comprises of hybrid resources (Print & Electronic) in the filed of science and technology which includes; 10130 online journals, 100 print journals, 112470 books, 2503 CDs, 58 audio cassettes and 4079 project reports. The Central library automated its all routine activity through library software called LIBSYS and also extended the various services like; CD-ROM database search, OPAC and Web based OPAC. Reference, Reading Room, Lending, Reprographic service, Book Bank, Book Reservation, Referral, New arrivals, Overnight issue, Inter library loan, Bibliographic service, Current Awareness Service, Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI), DELNET, Off campus service through telephone, fax, e-mail, and SMS. Even the library has digital library section where the Teaching faculty/ students/ research scholars can access the online and offline electronic resources. The Central Library being a member of AICTE INDEST consortium provides online access to IEEE/IEL, ASME, ASCE journals. The institute has recently subscribed to ACM and Science Direct journals, while several online journals are made available through UGC Infonet scheme.

Tracer Study Cell - Tracer study is a field-based research activity. It is about tracing or locating a particular object in a dynamic system in order to determine its path of movement. In the present context, the system is technical education and the employment status of the pass-out students is the object to be traced. Besides generation of data on status of employment, a tracer study can be used to generate various other important information related to gainful employment. All the past and present students of the institute are required to register themselves online, as members, through the official website. This cell acts as a link between the institute and its alumni by providing them a common platform for mutual value addition in the knowledge base through reciprocation and interaction.

Micro-meteorological Observational System - Department of Applied Mathematics has established a Land Surface Atmosphere and Micro-meteorological Observational System (LATAMOS) comprising agro meteorological observatory and micro-meteorological tower at Main campus of the Institute at Mesra.
The Set-up includes various ground-based equipments to measure and record soil temperature at different depths, soil heat flux, soil moisture, rainfall, humidity, evaporation and duration of sunshine.

Some of the other facilities are:

  • The 32-meter tall Micro-meteorological Tower is equipped with a variety of weather sensors. These include slow response sensors at logarithmic heights of 1,2,4,8,16, and 32 meters above the ground to measure air temperature, wind speed and direction (wind vector) and relative humidity at 1-minute average intervals fast response sensor (CAST3 Sonic anemometer) at 10 meter height to sense all three components of wind speed and sonic temperature at 10 Hz frequency (10 records per second) and an albedometer at 32 meter height (to measure reflected short-wave radiation).
  • Net radiometer has also been installed at 2.5-meter height to observe incoming and outgoing short wave and long-wave radiation to study the radiation and energy balance. Some measurements are made manually and others are automatically recorded by two Data loggers (CR3000 and CR1000) installed on the micro-meteorological tower containing multiplexers inside continuously. Potential evapotranspiration, different energy balance components (Sensible, latent and ground heat fluxes) having importance for monsoon activity, horizontal and vertical transport of mass exchange are also observed online.
  • The surface agrometeorological observatory contains Sun-shine recorder (For sunshine hours duration for a day), Cup counter anemometer for wind speed, wind vane for direction, Stevenson screen (In which four types of thermometers maximum, minimum, dry bulb-instantaneous, and wet bulb-temperature at which surrounding air has no more capacity to absorb moisture), self recording and non-recording rain gauges, dew gauge (Important for moisture partitioning for crop), soil thermometers at surface, 5, 10, 20 and 25 cm depths, grass minimum thermometers, and US Class A Pan evaporimeter for determination of potential evapotranspiration. the observatory is having clear fetch towards NNW to S directions.

DST-INSPIRE - Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired/ing Research (INSPIRE) is a unique program initiated by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India for inspiring young talents towards advanced studies and research in basic sciences. The basic aim of INSPIRE is to instil scientific temper to the youth population of our country and to give them a flavour of bliss ingrained in creativity. The camp will provide a forum for intensified, stimulating and brainstorming interaction between the participants and the highly esteemed mentors through  lectures, lab experiments and lab visits.

CIF - The Central Instrumentation Facility  is established under Technical Education Quality for Improvement Programme (TEQIP). CIF offers sophisticated instrumental facilities for advanced research to BIT faculty and researchers as well as to those from other Institutions/Industries, who may be in need of the same.

CIF is equipped with sophisticated instruments to carry out:

  1. Spectral measurements.
  2. Structure determination.
  3. Chemical analysis.
  4. Morphology studies.

Industry Institute Interaction - BIT has always been alive towards building up relationship with the industry and over the last 5 decades has sought to develop synergistic tie-ups with several leading industries. BIT was also the pioneer in setting up Small Industries Research Development Organization (SIRDO) for providing support to Entrepreneurs for setting up their industry and also has an arrangement with the effective Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) for establishment of a mechanism for wholesome technology development through setting up Technology Incubation Centre.Multi-dimensional association have been forged with leading organisations like Tata Steel, Larsen & Toubro, Tata Motors, Texas Instruments, TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, Mphasis, ICICI Prudential amongst others.s

Campus Placements - The Department offers centralized services in Mesra, plus services in each of the extension centres, to meet the diverse needs of the BIT student population.
