About Master of Science in Medical Surgical Nursing
M.Sc. Medical Surgical Nursing or Master of Science in Medical Surgical Nursing is a postgraduate Nursing course. Medical surgical nursing is one of the most difficult specialties of nursing for students to master. This course is designed to assist students in developing expertise and in-depth understanding in the field of cardiovascular and thoracic nursing. It will help students to develop advanced skills for nursing intervention in various cardio medical and surgical conditions. It will enable the student to function as Cardiovascular and Thoracic Nurse practitioner/ specialist. It will further enable the student to function as an educator, manager and research in the field of cardiovascular and thoracic nursing. The program is designed to prepare graduates in scientific inquiry, which includes initiating, validating, and applying research findings to nursing practice and evaluating nursing theory appropriate for advanced practice.
M.Sc. Medical Surgical Nursing Eligibility
- Aspiring candidates should have a B.Sc. or any equivalent degree with minimum 50% marks and entrance test at the time of admission.
M.Sc. Medical Surgical Nursing Course Suitability
- Applicants should also understand the importance of measuring and improving the quality of care delivered; consider patient safety to be the top priority and support patients in their efforts to identify what is in their interests.
- Candidates should be able to provide comfort and attention to people who need someone to take an interest in their lives.
- They should be known of all aspects of adult health; have excellent assessment, technical, organizational, and prioritization skills; and able to teach patients, families, peers, and other health professionals.
- They should have cared for patients of all ages; manage the care of patients with multiple medical, surgical, and/or psychiatric diagnoses.
How is M.Sc. Medical Surgical Nursing Course Beneficial?
- The course is suitable to describe the epidemiology, etiology, pathophysiology and diagnostic assessment of cardiovascular and thoracic conditions and helps to participate in national health programs for health promotion prevention and rehabilitation of patients with cardiovascular and thoracic conditions.
- The course offers students the opportunity to function as a clinical specialist in health promotion and restoration in acute or rehabilitative services.
- Students can choose relevant concepts to explore in depth with specified groups of clients and use current research findings, theory and advanced practice skills to provide comprehensive nursing care.
- The employment opportunities in this profession are available in private and government hospitals, industries, orphanages, nursing homes, old age homes, sanatoriums and the armed forces. Indian Red Cross Society, State Nursing Councils, Indian Nursing Council and various other nursing institutions are few other employment areas where one can find jobs.
