Delhi to have Armed Forces Preparatory School to train students for NDA

Delhi government is in the process of setting up an Armed Forces Preparatory School in South West Delhi's Jharoda Kalan area. Besides the regular teachers for the foundational subjects, retired army personnel will be roped in to spot the yo ung talent and train them. The setting up of this school is part of the project announced by the Delhi government in its 2021 'Deshbhakti Budget', where the classes will be from IX to XII. A source in Delhi government, says, "Currently we are setting up an Armed Forces Preparatory School as part of Schools of Specialised Excellence (SOSES) in South West Delhi's Jharoda Kalan area." Last year, four types of SOSEs were launched and this Armed Forces Preparatory School will be the fifth of its kind. The residential school will be affiliated to the Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE), which will accommo date a batch of 100 students. "The curriculum will be deci ded by DBSE, which would focus on building a strong foundation. The specialisation will be on helping students clear the NDA exam," source adds. Col (retd) Devdutta Choudhu ry, ex Inspecting Officer Sainik Schools, says, "Setting up a Sainik School in Delhi is not an urgency as there are 33 Sainik ☐ Schools across the country and only about 300 students get selected to join the NDA term."
