About GITAM Dental College and Hospital

GITAM SOCIETYS OBJECTIVE of providing accessible, affordable and quality Dental Education and Oral Health Care to North Coastal Andhra, led to the conception of GITAM Dental College & Hospital. The Dental College and Hospital was established in the year 2001 with an annual intake of 40 students and from the academic year 2003-04 the annual intake is increased to 100 students. Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India issued letter of recognition for BDS Degree awarded by Dr.NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada with respect to BDS Students of GITAM Dental College & Hospital, Visakhapatnam, vide their letter F.No.V-12017/31/2003-DE, dt.25-06-2008.

GITAM Dental College & Hospital is one of the premier educational institutions offering quality and affordable Dental care in India. The Dental College has excellent infrastructure with over 2,25,000 sq. ft. Of built up area and is the largest of its kind in Andhra Pradesh. It has well equipped state-of-the-art library, modern clinical departments and pre-clinical and clinical laboratories. There is free transport facility for the patients and the treatment is also provided free of cost for the deserving poor.

GITAM Dental College & Hospital has a blend of experienced and knowledgeable, and young and dedicated team of professionals who are very competent and highly qualified. The staff are constantly engaged in guiding the students towards acquiring expertise in both theory & clinical aspects of Dental and basic medical sciences. Quality education is imparted with the latest technical know-how. GITAM Dental College & Hospital conducts frequent dental health camps for educating, motivating and treating the general public, especially the rural population, so as to improve their oral hygiene and health status.

The College presently offers Bachelor of Dental Surgery (B.D.S) Course of five year duration and also Master of Dental Surgery (M.D.S) Courses in eight different specialities namely 1.Prosthodontics 2.Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery 3. Orthodontics 4. Periodontics 5. Conservative Dentistry 6.Paedodontics & Preventive Dentistry 7. Oral Pathology & Microbiology and 8. Oral Medicine & Radiology.
