About Arni University

Arni University (AU) came into existence by an Act No.23 of 2009 of Government of Himachal Pradesh and approved by the UGC, vide Notification No- F No 8-5/2010(CPP-1/PU), dated 03 Mar 2010, under Section 2 (f) of UGC Act, 1956 with the objective to promote inter-disciplinary Higher Education and Research in the needy areas of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and J&K.

The University is located at Kathgarh, Kangra, in the state of Himachal Pradesh, about 6 Km from the National Highway No 1A (Four Lanes Highway) and approx. 25 Km from Pathankot City. The University has one of the most attractive lush green pollution –free Campus overlooking Beas River and in the foothills of Dhauladhar Mountain Ranges.

Arni University Facilities

Hostel Facilities - University in the present year has residential capacity for approx. 700 students with separate Hostel for girls & boys. The rooms are on triple sharing basis. There are caring wardens and security personnel to ensure the safety and comfort of the students. The hostels have common rooms with T.V. and indoor games with mess facility. The mess food is nutritious, well balanced, hygienic and tasty. The mess is run on cooperative basis by students. The University has two large spacious dining halls for hostellers and others to have their regular meals. The cafeteria in the campus serves all delicacies like fresh fruit juice, ice cream, milk shakes, midday snacks, chocolates etc. to keep mind and diet satisfied.

Library Facilities - The Arni University library is enriched with books of different streams. The library is air conditioned, digital and with Internet facility. Library is enriched with some national and international journals in the field of management, sciences and engineering. The library is equipped with online computers with printing and Photo-copying facility.

Computer Centre Facilities - There are a number of computing facilities on the university campus. The state-of-the-art facility features hardware & software that is geared to specific academic programs. Every computing center in this network is enabled by state-of-the-art technology and reflects the prevailing trends in computing. Advanced networking technologies facilitate a seamless integration of the various computing centers and the multiple operating systems. The university encourages hands on experience at all levels. The server available is RISC based xenon and Lenovo / IBM computers.

Laboratory Facilities - The University has particularly enriched labs in Mechanical and Civil Engineering. The University has also two electrical and two electronics engineering labs. All the labs have complete facilities for practical training. The applied Physics Labs in engineering has all the necessary equipment to train the students in engineering applications. There is separate advanced lab for M.Sc. in Physics and a project lab. The University has two big engineering drawing labs with 60 drawing boards in each lab.

Sports Facilities - The University has playgrounds for basket ball, football, lawn tennis, volleyball, badminton and cricket. The University organizes sports events, tournaments, competitions and matches at University and Inter University level.

Medical Facilities - The University has a medical centre which takes care of routine problems and for emergencies. We have tie-ups with the hospitals at Pathankot.

Transportation Facilities - Bus facility is provided to the students which cover almost all the surrounding areas of Himachal Pradesh & Punjab.

Tour Facilities - Along with studies co-curricular activities are very important in order to release the stress and strain of the students at periodic intervals of time through tour and other activities. The Industrial tour is part of academic curricular. The university has arranged Industrial training in reputed organizations such as Hero Cycles, Vardhaman Fabrics, Sonalika Tractors, Verka Dairy etc.

Scholarship Scheme Facilities - Aiming at giving quality education and to encourage the talent. The university has a scholarship scheme for the meritorious as well as needy students.

Anti Ragging Facilities - The University has strong rules regarding ragging. It is an offence under penal code and under section 116 of the Karnataka Education Act, 1983 (Karnataka Act No.1 of 1995).
