About Government Polytechnic

Technical education has its own role to play in development of society, particularly when dependency of society is fast increasing on technologies. With technological growth & globalization of market, upliftment & wider grow of technical education has become imminent. Diploma level technical education is perhaps the being the backbone of all such technological development.

To impart technical education at the foothill of every its citizen, government of Uttrakhand is vastly expanding its network of polytechnics engaged in imparting technical training at diploma level & this Polytechnic is one of the steps in this direction.

The polytechnic started in the year 2006 with one course of three year diploma in Mechanical engineering with yearly intake of 40 students.Initially till 2009 the polytechnic was being run in combination with Government Polytechnic, DehraDun but in the year 2009 the polytechnic was shifted to it's under construction premises at Udpalta Road Sahiya.

The premise is still under construction & is located some five kilometers away from main Sahiya Bazaar. Sahiya is located at an altitude of around 2000 meter & is around 70 kilometers from DehraDun & 30 Kilometers from Vikas Nagar on DehraDun Chakrata Main Road. This place is well connected by road. The nearest Railway Station is DehraDun & nearest air port is Jolly Grant. With limited sources & manpower, the overall performance of the Institute can be assumed to be satisfactory. The pass out percentage in board's examination is almost 100 % in each year & placement is almost 85%. The alumni of this Institute are a source of inspiration for others in their respective organizations. Not only is this the Institute day by day establishing itself as a source of inspiration for local public. An example of this is the adoption of a nearby village by this institute Vohri under NSS project was widely acclaimed by local people.

This is a new Institute & needs a lot more to be done- a few we can do our self & remaining with guidance & suggestions from others. The institute is launching its web site with noble aim of taking this institute to bigger heights & of course that is not possible without your love affection & last but not the least kind feedback to improve ourselves. With your this much of support, You all believe us students, staff & teachers of this polytechnic will leave no stone unturned to add a new feather to their cap each day.
