About Government Polytechnic College

Government Polytechnic college, Batala has been doing its best in the sphere of technical education for the last about 57 years. This college is situated on Kahnuwan Road approx. 2 Kms from the bus-stand about 2.5 Kms from the Batala Railway Station and 40 km from Amritsar Railway Station (on Amritsar-Pathankot Rail Line) on the outskirts of historic city of Batala (Distt. Gurdaspur). The nearest airport is Sri Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport, Amritsar, which is about 45 Kms from the college.

The first batch of students was admitted to Civil, Electrical & Mechanical Engg. in July, 1964. Subsequently four years Part Time Diploma in Civil, Electrical & Mechanical Engineering were started in July, 1980. Three year Diploma in Electronics Communication Engineering and Chemical Engineering were introduced August, 1994 and August, 1995 respectively.

It has well planned campus spread over an area of 23 acres. The campus is equipped with Post Office, Bank Extension Counter, Dispensary, and other facilites essential for the community living.
