About Navyug Kanya Mahavidyalaya

The land of Navyug Kanya Mahavidyalaya was donated by Maharaja Pateshwar Prasad Singh of Balrampur Estate, Gonda District to the Society under the Societies Registration Act 1860. This College was founded on July 4, 1943 under the patronage of Navyug seva sangh, led by late Sri. Deen Dayal ji.,as a primary school. The journey of Navyug Kanya Mahavidyalaya from 1963 to 2017 is a living example of the continuous and dedicated efforts of a team of trusted persons dedicated to the cause of girl's education. A group of few educationist enthusiasts laid the foundation of vidyalaya in an obscure corner of Lucknow in 1943 with classes up to fifth standard and fourteen students in all. The vidyalaya got recognition for High School in 1949, intermediate Arts in 1952, intermediate Science and Degree course in 1963, B.SC and B.Ed in 1969, P.G. Course in 1994 and B.Com in 1998 within the span of fifty years, since the establishment of degree section in 1963'the college is now considered the best girls 'college of Lucknow. Imparting education in various subjects up to post graduate level. section.

Navyug was the first college under University of Lucknow to get the permanent affiliation for P.G in Hindi and English from the session 1994-95. Despite of limited space in infrastructure, Navyug kanya Mahavidyalaya, is one of the prestigious govt. aided colleges in Lucknow, the proof of which is indicated from the fact that this college was shortlisted among the five hundred degree colleges of the state capital by the Govt. of Uttar Pradesh in the implementation of its " Laptop Distribution scheme" in its first round and one thousand two hundred forty first year under-graduate girl students got benefited out of it on 11th March,2013. As this college caters to the academic need of more than 50% of girl students who belong to socially & economically disadvantaged/ minority class, it is proving to be a boon for this section of girl students. It has already attained the distinction of being the first and the only college in U.P. to hold a convocation for felicitating it's meritorious students in its golden Jubilee year 2013. The convocation ceremony had been in continuation till the session 2014-15 and then it took the form of a Felicitation ceremony in the session 2015-16. In the sports arena, for the first time in the history of the college, during the Golden Jubilee celebration in 2013, an Inter-Collegiate/ University Sports Meet, was organized from 11th to 14th December 2013. Volley Ball, Kabaddi, Chess And Table Tennis tournaments were organized among the teams from various college and universities. The Referees and coaches were also of international and national repute. The students were so highly motivated and showed such enthusiasm that it was announced by the Principal that such an event will be organized on an annual basis.

The discipline of the college is exemplary and the result speaks of itself. For the last 53 years the result of U.G. and P.G. courses has varied between 95% and 100%. During the span of 74 years the college has been continually striving hard to take its position to greater heights by the hard work and determination of staff and the students and has secured a commendable position in the capital of Uttar Pradesh.

Our dream is not to merely envision degree holders but to serve the society, by all-round development and training of its women folk. As we realize that skilled professionals are the need of the hour, our focus now steers towards imparting skill-oriented education to young women of today. Preparing to meet the challenges, the society has thrown up today, we are offering various skill development programmes for the past two years to our students, many of whom have become budding entrepreneurs and they were also felicitated on the Founder's Day, 26thFeb 2017. This college has given powerful platform to these students to showcase their skills especially in Dress Designing, Cutting &Tailoring , Make-Up Art, Hair Styling, Fashion Designing, Paper Jewellery Art, Make-up Art, Marshal Art, 3-D Painting & Clay Modelling, Navyug- Chef .This practice has immensely helped these students in realizing & sharpening their hidden talents and untapped potentials, thereby providing them with the unique experience of their future professional life. Such Skill Development programmes are running in our college within the limited infrastructure and without having any pecuniary assistance from any of the Government and Non-Government organizations. Besides this, the two certified courses of NIELT- O Level, CCC Computer Courses are also running in the campus for the past three years to make the students computer literate, a mandatory qualification for jobs in Govt./private Sector.
