About Dr BR Ambedkar University of Social Sciences, Indore

Government of Madhya Pradesh by an ACT No. 2 of2016 has set up Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University of Social Sciences, published in Madhya Pradesh Gazette (Extraordinary) on 13th January 2016. Dr. B R Ambedkar University of Social Sciences (BRAUSS) is the first university of social sciences in the country. The University is a unique model of integration of social sciences perspectives and approaches with scientific and technological advancement for socio-economic development and educational excellence of scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and other backward classes. The University aims at accelerating socio-economic development and educational excellence among marginalized sections for their upliftment and empowerment; and confluence of new technologies and latest modules of social sciences with ideology of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar for alleviation and eradication of social evils, social disparities & injustice and establishment of egalitarian society.

The University promotes socio-economic and educational development of marginalized sections of society by imparting higher education, research, extension & training in social sciences & allied subjects including- Constitution & Democracy- national integration, democratic decentralization & local self-governance; Social & Educational Empowerment- egalitarian social order, secularism, women empowerment & social emancipation, religious & social harmony, human dignity, family & child welfare, quality higher education; Economic & Financial Empowerment- among the weaker sections through capacity building & entrepreneurship development, welfare economics, and policy reforms; Law & Social Justice-equality of status & opportunities, liberty of thought, expression, belief, faith & worship, fraternity assuring dignity of individual & unity and integrity of nation, ensuring social justice, protecting civil & human rights; Environment & Agrarian Development- conservation of water & natural resources, ecological harmony & interlinking of rivers, land holdings & agrarian development, agricultural technology & rural crafts; and International understanding & foreign policies and scientific approach towards nation building.

His Excellency the Governor of Madhya Pradesh SMT. Anandiben Mafatbhai Patel is the Chancellor and chairperson of the Governing Body of the University. Prof. Asha Shukla is the Vice Chancellor of the University and she is the Chairperson of the Executive Council and Academic Council of the University. Prof. D. K. Verma is Director-Research, extension & Training and also Course Director of Faculty Capacity Building Programme.
