About Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology Bhopal - NIT Bhopal

Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology - NIT Bhopal, it is also known as National Institute of Technology, Bhopal (NIT Bhopal). Earlier it was known as Maulana Azad College of Technology (MACT), an Institute of National Importance under the NIT Act situated in Bhopal. It is part of the group of publicly funded institutions in India known as National Institute of Technology. Historically, MANIT was started in 1960 as Maulana College of Technology, named after the first Minister of Education, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. MACT started functioning in 1960 at Govt S.V. Polytechnic. It was one of the first eight Regional Engineering Colleges. The Government of India, Ministry of Human Resources Development, New Delhi, upgraded the status of Deemed University with effect from 26th June 2002. The Institute became an Intstute of national Importance by the parliament act in the year 2007. The institute is situated in the middle of Bhopal city with 650 acres campus.

How to reach MANIT - The Institute is accessible by all the three ways bus, rail and bus.

Bus - MANIT is well connected by road.

Rail - The Habibganj railway station is 5 kms. & Bhopal railway station is 9 kms. away from MANIT. Bhopal is also connected by train on the central and southern railways. It is well connected with train s from Mumbai, Bangalore to Delhi, Trivandrum etc.

Air - MANIT is 11 kms. from the airport and it is well connected with daily flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Gwalior and Indore.

Library Facilities - MANIT Library is a functional unit of the Institute and executes all its activities under the overall administrative control of the respective authority. The library is equipped with a lot of facilities. It has a good collection of books, SC ST & General Book Bank, CDs, videos, current periodicals, newspapers and back vol. of Journals.

Dispensary Facilities - The Institute has a well set up Dispensary fir its students and staff. It provides the following facilities such as ambulance for medical emergency, outdoor medical facilities, dressing and injects able facilities and distribution of free medicine for routine general problems.

Auditorium - The Institute has a well built auditorium. Earlier it was Students Activity Centre (SAC) which has been renovated and is now known as Dr. S. Radhakrishnan Auditorium. It has a capacity of around 800 people with a fantastic Hi-Tech sound system, fully air-conditioned.

Sports Facilities - The Institute has good sporting facilities for all round development of students and provides a means of recreation and relaxation for body and mind. There are facilities regarding in the institute like Swimming Pool, Squash Courts, Table Tennis, Badminton Courts, Gymnasium and Basketball Court. The most attractive sporting is Sports Complex.

Rolta Innovation & Incubation Centre - The Centre is set up with the purpose of

Anti-ragging Cell - The Institute has well built anti-ragging cell for dealing with ragging incidents. In other words there is zero ragging in MANIT.

Go Green Forum - It is an environment protection society of the college which creates awareness and take various initiative in improving college environment through means of green ideas.

Pixel - It is a photography club.
