About Himachal Institute of Pharmacy

 

Established in 2008 as “Himachal institute of Pharmacy” with B. Pharmacy course.  With the intention of making this institution a centre of higher learning, we have started M. Pharmacy (Pharmaceutics) post graduate  level in the year 2012 and D. Pharmacy in year 2019.  The course conducted in this Institution is recognized by Government of Himachal Pradesh, Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi and All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi. B. Pharm./M.Pharm. Course is affiliated to Himachal Pradesh Technical University, Hamirpur (H.P).

Vision

Himachal institute of Pharmacy” has always strived to be a top pharmacy college in the H.P. It has the primary responsibility of creating qualified and trained pharmacists who deliver pharmaceutical care to citizens either independently or in collaboration with other major pharmaceutical industries.In the new global scenario the group has set its vision to be ahead of others in terms of imparting knowledge, skills, training to the future pharmacists catering to the needs of the industry, academia, patient care, regulatory authorities, etc. 

Strong research activities of the group help the students at UG level to acquire research based knowledge and skills at a very early stage enabling them to shape their career objectives.
Participating in the development of new therapeutic entities, their characterization, development of newer drug delivery systems for such drugs, analytical and bio-analytical back-up and evaluating the delivery of pharmaceutical care are some of the research focus of the group.

INFRASTRUCTURE OVERVIEW

Himachal Institute of Pharmacy is located in a town Paonta Sahib, a peace and calm place suitable for education purpose. Institute is just 40 km from Dehradun, Uttarakhand and 100 km from Chandigarh. The Campus has retained its green cover, rich in natural flora and fauna. The Campus excellent site ensures convenient bus services from all parts of the country. The building has spacious and well- illuminated classrooms, rich library, state - of - the- art laboratories, herbal Garden, health Centre, Computer Centre, etc.

PHARMACEUTICS LABS

Have six station dissolution testing apparatus, rotary tablet compression machines, capsule filling machines, coating pans, , BOD, autoclaves, digital colony counters, laminar flow, shaker baths, ball mill, tube filling machines, volumetric bottle filling machine, friability apparatus, planetary mixer, tray driers, emulsifier, single station tablet machine, Zone readers, IR balance, bulk density apparatus, colorimeter etc.

PHARMACEUTICAL CHEMISTRY LABS

They are furnished with Abbe’s refractometer, melting point apparatus, electronic balances, atomic model sets, hot plates, hot air oven, distillation units, vacuum pumps, polarimeter, deionizer, freeze drier etc.

PHARMACOGNOSY LABS

 They have heating water bath, compound microscopes, optical microscope, muffle furnace, distillation units, UV chamber, Soxhlet apparatus, columns, autoclave etc.

PHARMACOLOGY, HUMAN ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY LABS

 They have binocular microscope, sphygmomanometer, hemocytometer, stethoscope, dissecting microscope, eddy’s hot plate, rota rod apparatus, actophotometer, Sherrington drums, electroconvulsiometer, human skeleton – articulated & disarticulated, cook’s pole climbing apparatus, respirometer etc.

INSTRUMENT LAB

 Air conditioned lab for sophisticated instrument like HPLC, UV- Spectrophotometer and six station dissolution testing apparatus is within college premises.

RESEARCH LABS

They have UV Visible spectrophotometer, brook field viscometer, electronic balances, conductivity meter, flame photometer, micropipette, orbital incubator shaker bath, projection microscopes.

 

All laboratories are spacious, well ventilated, and illuminated.

COMMON ROOM

Himachal Institute of Pharmacy has separate common rooms where students can sit in their spare time. The indoor games like carom and chessboards are available.

GIRLS HOSTEL

 Institute has a well furnished Girls' hostel in it's campus. There are four floors in the hostel and students are staying year wise on different floors. There are single, double and triple seated rooms available, depending on their choice. The residing students have comfortable airy rooms, 24 hours electricity and water supply (Hot water in winters) all in clean, peaceful and hygienic surroundings. There is a guest room for parents without any charge. The mess facility is also available for students. There is a warden and assistant warden to look after the students. Medical facility is available 24 hours for the student. College ambulance is available for the students in case of emergency. There is a common room for the students where TV and indoor games as table tennis, carom, chess are available for students. Outdoor games as cricket, volley ball, badminton are also available for inmates.

 Institute has a well furnished Boy's hostel in it's campus. The mess facility is also available for students. There is a warden and assistant warden to look after the students. Medical facility is available 24 hours for the student. College ambulance is available for the students in case of emergency. There is a common room for the students where TV and indoor games as table tennis, carom, chess are available for students. Outdoor games as cricket, volley ball badminton are also available for inmates. English & Hindi daily newspapers, employment news and magazines are available for the hostel inmates

GYMNASIUM

The college will be equipped with ultra modern gymnasium.

 

ATM

ATM machine is provided at the college gate for all the students and faculty members of the college. Machine is available for all from 8am to pm.8 are regularly maintained so that the users may not face any dificulties. All types of cash notes are available with the A/C facilties.

HERBAL GARDEN

The herbal garden at Himachal Institute of Pharmacy has more than 100 different kinds of herbs showing their medicinal value. The students enhance there traditional knowledge by studying there medicinal values. Plants like aloe, sarpgandha, satavari, tulsi, giloe, bahera, arjuna, dhatura etc are planted here

The lecture rooms of the institute are a delight for the students. They are airy illuminated and adorned with ergonomic seat, white board and furnished with curtains for maintaining better atmosphere during summers.

INDEPENDENT LEARNING

Assignment activities form the basis of student independent learning. This involves conceiving, planning and researching an activity, implementing and completing it, as well as reflecting on performance. Students thereby develop a wide range of key transferable competencies, including organizational, technical and interpersonal skills. Field studies, laboratory activities, case studies, presentations and group discussions all form part of a student's independent learning process.

LIBRARY

The heart of institute of Pharmacy is not only the reputed faculty but the rich and voluminous library which has more than 5000 books. The Library building equipped with computer, camera etc. The library has an outstanding reading room with a large seating capacity and areas dedicated to both silent and group study. The library has its own Photocopier machine and Scanner.

 

           

COMPUTER FACILITIES

The college has excellent state-of-the-art computing facilities and system analysis units in it's computer centre to cater to needs of students. The computer centre is well equipped with advanced computers along with all the necessary peripherals as well as requisite software's .The computer laboratory is equipped with internet access and the latest software, giving our students access to the most up-to-date information at the click of a button.

 

Wi Fi Campus

 

Campus is having 4 MBPS of high speed internet facility. The institute has a 24X7 Wi-Fi facility in the college campus for the student and faculty members to avail internet connection at any place in the college & hostel.

 

The connectivity through a fully networked campus with state-of-the-art IT infrastructure, computing & communication resources, offers students the facilities of e-mail, net surfing, up/down loading of web based application, besides helping them in preparing projects & seminars.
