About Central University of Haryana, Mahendergarh

 

The Central University of Haryana,  also known as CUH is a central university that emerged in the year 2009. It is one of the 15 central universities established by MHRD, Govt. of India under the 11th five year plan of 2007-2012. CUH is fully funded by the UGC. The main objective of the university is to educate and provide manpower training for the development of the country, and to disseminate and advance knowledge through innovations and teaching and learning processes in interdisciplinary studies and research.

The university aims to develop enlightened citizenship of a knowledge in society for peace, prosperity of individuals, nation and the world, through promotion of innovative learning and creative endeavors. It also offers both UG and PG courses to interested candidates.

Location

The university is located in SH 17, Jant, Haryana. One can reach the campus through bus, train, plane, or cab, depending on the convenience of the individual. The details are given below.

1.     From the university, Narnaul railway station is 36.8 km away.

2.     By bus, the Khetri bus depot is 62 km away from the university.

3.     Indira Gandhi International airport is 136 km away from the campus. It takes around 3 hours to reach the university.

4.    Cabs and taxi can also be availed to reach the university from the airport, railway station, or bus depot.

Clubs, Committees and Societies

CUH offers various clubs and committees for students, to engage them in a better cause and gain practical skills. The clubs and committees present in the university are as follow.

Youth Red Cross: This club was set up with the view to be the leading humanitarian organization, serving vulnerable people. The members are responsible to promote and participate in various events of humanitarian services in society and the country.

NSS: The club works towards spreading awareness on various issues by providing social services on different grounds.

Eco Club: The eco club makes efforts to contribute to the betterment of the environment, by helping in small ways to reserve them. They conduct various workshops and drives, to promote a sustainable environment in and beyond the university.

Movie Club: This club was set up with the aim to introduce students to wide ranging knowledge through the world of entertainment. The club screens movies in the field of history, economics, philosophy, science fiction, music, and much more.

Facilities

The university is equipped with all the necessary facilities to cater to the academic needs of the students and staff. The latest technology and facilities are included in the laboratories provided in each department of the university. They offer central library, hostel accommodation, computer lab, sports, health, and much more. The university also offers virtual class rooms. The details of the facilities are provided below.

Central Library: The library is fully digitalized with more than thousands of book and journal contents to serve the academic community. Students and staff can use the library for reference and knowledge enhancement purposes.

Sports: Both indoor and outdoor facilities are provided in the university to help students engage in activities for their physical fitness and mental health.

Computer Centre: Computer labs are present in the university as per department requirements. WIFI facilities are provided in the university campus.

Hostel: Separate hostel accommodations are provided to boys and girls. Internet connections and mess facilities including daily essentials are provided to hostellers.

Admission

The university offers UG and PG courses to interested candidates. Admissions to the UG and PG courses offered in the university are done on the basis of Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET). The steps for admission to various courses are given below.

1.     Fill and submit the admission form.

2.     Appear the CUCET entrance exam for admissions to any course degree.

3.     Meet the required score for admission.

4.     Submit all required documents for verification.

5.     Selected candidates must pay fees.

Scholarship

The university offers scholarships to students through MHRD and UGC. Various scholarships are provided by MHRD and UGC to support and provide financial or educational assistance to students belonging to various categories. Otherwise, student can also apply for state or central scholarships provided by the government. Students must meet the eligibility criteria before applying for any scholarship. Educational loans from banks are another option for students who need academic support and financial assistance.

Placement

The training and placement cell of the university provides career guidance and support to students, so that they are exposed to the different opportunities that are within their grasp. The cell members organize various programmes for personality development and communication skills. Career counselling is also provided to students in the university. Various workshops and collaboration have been made with top companies or governmental organizations to provide training to students in order to prepare them for professional job roles and help them choose the right career path.

Central University of Haryana is a Central University established under the Central Universities Act, 2009 of the Parliament. It is one of the 15 Central Universities established by MHRD, GoI under the XIth Five Year Plan (2007-12). The University is fully funded by the UGC.

Permanent Campus of the University is situated in 488 acres of land at Jant-Pali Villages, Mahendergarh district of Haryana from where CUH is running its academic operations.

University Logo is conceived with a globe at its centre surrounded by holy trinity of three arcs and at the bottom is a shloka taken from 'Neeti Shatkam' written by Bhartihari.

The arc at the bottom depicts an open book and a Veena, symbolising University's commitment to meeting the quest for acquiring knolwedge, learning, enlightenment and promoting art and culture.

The arc at the right that depicts processes of science, technology and adventure symbolises the University's commitment to promoting scientific progress and creating a culture of creativity, innovation and enquiring approach.

The arc at the left that depicts nature symbolises University's commitment to promoting education inculcating respect for environment, ecology and living in harmony with nature.

The globe at the centre surrounded by the human chain and the pigeon flying above expresses University's belief that commitments represented by the trinity of three arcs shall lead to global peace, prosperity and human solidarity-the real spirit of education.

The shloka at the bottom conveys that 'education' is the unrivalled treasure of all.
