Delhi University (DU) was established in 1922 under the Central Legislative Assembly Act. The University of Delhi is accredited by NAAC with an ‘A+’ grade and it is ranked at 11th position in NIRF University Rankings 2020. DU is graded as a category one university and recognised as Institute of Eminence (IoE) by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Delhi University has 91 colleges affiliated to it. The University of Delhi has 86 departments and 16 faculties. The vision of the university is to provide students with a well structured educational environment. Delhi University offers 201 courses in philosophy, Hindi, English, Sanskrit, business economics and many more. DU provides diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degrees to students.

Some of the popular courses offered by Delhi University are BCom, BSc (H) Biochemistry, MA Hindi, MA Sanskrit, PhD Chemistry etc. The admission process of every course is different at the University of Delhi. Admission to courses offered by Delhi University is given on the basis of entrance exam and merit of the qualifying exam. University of Delhi has collaborated with numerous foreign universities like University of Wollongong (Australia), University of Vienna (Austria) etc. The tie ups with foreign universities and institutes provide students with a global exposure. 

DU also has provision for students exchange programmes. Furthermore, Delhi University is a part of the Association of Commonwealth Universities and International Association of Universities. Hostel facilities for outstation students are also provided by the university. Additionally, the university has a library, computer centre, conference centre etc. University of Delhi also has committees and cells to look after the extra curricular activities and to maintain decorum in the campus.

University of Delhi (DU) is located at Benito Juarez Marg, South Campus, South Moti Bagh, New Delhi, Delhi. The nearest airport is IGI Airport with a distance of 12.6 km. Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus Metro Station is the nearest to the university. It is located 1.6 km away from the University of Delhi. RR Hospital Bus Stand is the nearest bus stand with a distance of 2.5 km. The best mode of transportation to reach the university is metro and bus.

Delhi University Facility and Infrastructure

The DU has massive nine libraries for students. Nine major libraries of DU are Central Library, FMS Library, Arts Library, Central Science Library, East Asian Studies Library, Law Library, Ratan Tata Library, South Campus Library and Braille Library. These libraries are equipped with thousands of books, journals and research papers. Students can also access University of Delhi online library. 

Along with these, Delhi University facilities also include hostels. To accommodate the outstation and international students, Delhi University has hostels for them. There are around 19 hostels out of which some are reserved for women only. The hostels are also bifurcated on the basis of course studied by students. For eg: Delhi University has a separate hostel for postgraduate men students known as Saramati Postgraduate Men's Hostel. The university also has a computer centre, conference centre, foreign student registry. Central Placement Cell (CPC) is Delhi University placement cell which coordinates all the placement related activities in the university. A health centre is a part of DU campus facilities. The health centre provides basic and specialized facilities to students as full time physician, ENT specialist, gynaecologist, pulmonologist etc. are always present in the health centre. University of Delhi also has an international guest room to facilitate international guests.

Delhi University Courses

Delhi University courses comprise diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels courses. DU courses are offered in the field of commerce, art & science, management and business administration etc. There are a total 201 courses offered by Delhi University. The minimum eligibility criteria for each course is different. So, before applying for any course a student should check the minimum eligibility criteria of the course they desire to pursue. Further, the admission process and no. of seats available is also different for every course. Admission to some of the University of Delhi courses requires students to appear for the DUET entrance exam, while admission to some of the courses is based on the marks obtained in the last qualifying examination.

Delhi University Admission

DU offers ample number of courses to students. Delhi University offers diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degrees in disciplines like commerce, language, management and business administration etc. The DU admission process and eligibility criteria for each course is unique. Delhi University gives admission to its UG and PG courses on the basis of entrance exam score as well as marks obtained in the qualifying examination. Delhi University admission to MPhil/PhD courses like PhD Geography, MPhil Political Science etc. require an entrance exam followed by a personal interview. Before appearing for the entrance exam, students are required to register on the Delhi University admission portal.

Delhi University Cut Off

Delhi University releases a cut off of various courses every year. Students can take admission in the offered courses on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance exam. University of Delhi cut off is the minimum marks which students must get in the entrance exam to take admission in the course they wish to pursue. The cut off of Delhi University is different for every course. Every year Delhi University releases the cut off in several rounds. Although DU does not release any cutoff directly for the courses offered by it, however, the DU cut off is released by all its affiliated colleges in 8-9 rounds.

Delhi University Placements

Every year a number of companies participate in the Delhi University placements. Central Placement Cell (CPC) is DU placement cell which helps students in placements. CPC conducts workshops, seminars etc to prepare students for the final interview. CPC also organises guest lectures by corporate veterans. To make sure students are familiar with the industry work culture, industrial visits are conducted by placement cell. Along with placements, Corporate Placement Cell helps students in the internship as well. 144 students from undergraduate programmes and 881 students from postgraduate programmes got placement offers in Delhi University Placements 2019-20.
