M.P.T. Musculoskeletal or Master of Physiotherapy in Musculoskeletal is a postgraduate Physiotherapy course. Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy is a specialized area of Physiotherapy treating injuries and conditions which affect the muscles, joints, and soft tissues. The course includes anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, psychology, medical and surgical conditions, biomechanics, kinesiology, disability prevention, rehabilitation and other subjects. Musculoskeletal injuries are injuries to joints, muscles, bones and or nerves. Common conditions treated are neck and back pain, and shoulder, hip and knee injuries. Musculoskeletal Physiotherapists often use manual therapy treatment techniques such as joint mobilization or manipulation and massage to restore normal function, in conjunction with exercise programs.
