M.D. Transfusion Medicine or Doctor of Medicine in Transfusion Medicine is a postgraduate Medicine course. Transfusion medicine is a multidisciplinary area concerned with the proper use of blood and blood components in the treatment of human diseases. Transfusion Medicine has now emerged as a distinct speciality which is not limited to the blood bank laboratory but has reached the patient’s bedside. Last few decades have witnessed rapid technological advances which have changed the scope and scenario of transfusion medicine services. Transfusion medicine is an unusual speciality in several respects: It combines both direct and indirect aspects of patient care, it cuts across the traditional divisions among medical disciplines, and it is practised in settings as different as a community blood centre and a hospital transfusion service.

- Candidates should have passed an M.B.B.S. degree with minimum 50% marks from a recognised university board.
