Bachelor of Engineering in Agricultural Engineering Course Details
B.E. Agricultural Engineering or Bachelor of Engineering in Agricultural Engineering is an undergraduate Agricultural Engineering course. The duration of the course is four years and the course deals with the study of applying engineering principles to the food and agricultural industries to make farming easier, more efficient and more profitable through the design and development of new agricultural machinery and through innovations in irrigation systems, power systems, water and soil conservation, etc. B.E. (Agricultural Engineering) degree course usually comprises the study of four main branches of agriculture engineering namely: Farm Implements, Rural Structures, Soil Conservation, Drainage and Irrigation, and Rural Electricity. In short, B.E. Agricultural Engineering mainly focuses on the study of the application of the concepts and techniques of various fields of engineering to the solution of problems arising in the field of agriculture and rural living.
Bachelor of Engineering in Agricultural Engineering Eligibility
- Aspiring students should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination, with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (and/or Biology) with a reasonably high percentage of marks in the aggregate and clearing the different national and state level entrance exams such as All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE), Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test (BITSAT), etc, conducted by different universities and colleges across the country.
- Selection to the B.E. (Agricultural Engineering) degree course is based on marks secured in the final merit i.e. total marks aggregated in the final exams of 10+2 and the entrance exams.
- A Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) is conducted by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in the country. The entrance to the IITs can be secured only after clearing this JEE.
- An examination is also conducted by the Associate Membership of the Institute of Engineers (AMIE), which enables working people in the private/public sector and diploma holders to acquire a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture Engineering through distance education. The degree awarded is considered equivalent to a regular B.E. (Agriculture Engineering) degree.
